Lunar Module make great Electronic Pop music, in the studio and live on stage. Their sound is firmly rooted in the Golden Age of Electronic Pop 1978-1988. Taking the sound of “then” and the technology of “now” has allowed Lunar Module to hone their sound with sonic purity and high fidelity. Then add to it the organic simplicity of good songs that have both traditional structure and strong melodic familiarity. The result is at once polished and entertaining on many levels.

Lunar Module are Ant Banister, Alberto Martinez, Peter Davies, Mel Grogan and Grant Muir.

In mid 2003 Ant decided to go with his passion and start writing song-based electronica with live vocals and classic 80’s electro influences. In 2004 Albert Martinez joined Ant, bringing his own songwriting and vocal skills on board as well as his considerable production talents. In early 2010 LM were joined by Mel Grogan on keys.

Fluffy T, also known as Fluffy T Bunny, is the musical construct of artist Edward Kelly. Fluffy T’s music is loosely based on electronica and pop with aspects of noise and minimalism.

Fluffy T is Kelly’s longest-lasting band moniker and is, according to the artist, “in a slow downward spiral of convolution”. New names currently being considered include: Sleep Wear and the Strange Buddhists; Impetus for the Inevitable; Intrinsic Psychic Love Paradigms; Euler Diagram;
Set Membership.

Other acts by Edward Kelly include:
SS Spanky – a prior more chaotic, hectic and slightly punk attitude
Double Happiness (Surveillance Systems) – a minimal ambient approach, with drawn out repetition and soothing sounds
This Corporate Militia – some sort of IDM style
98 Biscotti – a more guitar based dream pop electronica

Edward Kelly was also a member of:
Captains of Industry – an extreme noise act gone soft
Futile Sound of Brunswick – two persons, a general appreciation of sound, and an attitude of no attitude, fuck you in other words

Nanotech are Ant Banister and James McParlane. They formed in 1990 when Ant answered James’ ad in Drum Media looking for fellow electronic musicians who were interested in cutting-edge sounds. James had just moved to Sydney from Perth where he played in the band The Accelerated Men. James had a Commodore Amiga he had modified so much it could only fit in a cardboard box. Ant at the time had been working with Albert Martinez for nearly two years in Eidolon and needed a fresh side project. Nanotech went on to pioneer new video and synth software using early Intel CPUs and played with live video and sound. Ant and James have played all over Australia, including many Big Day Out shows, went on tour with The On U Sound System and supported Sven Vath and Bjork.

The story of Tiatto begins in a Brixton garret opposite a crackhouse in 2001, with Benwah and Max Devere installing every software synth that bubbazanetti.com had to offer while they ripped off the collected B-sides of Steely Dan. In London, Tiatto played a number of private exclusive house parties – which means they got stoned and jammed a lot with tape players and speak’n'spells. On the advice of a senior Radio 1 staffer, Tiatto “got the fuck out of [his] office”.

Tiatto relocated to Melbourne with a laptop full of tunes and were joined by Nick Fakeman, the notorious twin-handed keyboard demon of Clifton Hill. Some money was wasted in a studio botching the first four cuts for a projected album. It all went pear shaped when Dave Graney volunteered his time for vocal duties for the final track of this impending vanity release. Tiatto realised that, unfortunately, influential people took them seriously and it was time to act their collective ages.

After a number of low key events where they accidentally set fire to their equipment, Tiatto somehow played Freebase’s 3rd Birthday event at Seven to considerable acclaim (much to the surprise of Devere who wasn’t awake or even there). In the next chapter, Fakeman turned up to disturb Tiatto’s music with some knobbage, voltage and circuitry at a First Floor gig with Steve Law.

So, with that in mind, Tiatto headed back into the studio with Melbourne producer extraordinaire Simon Grounds (Underground Lovers, God, Shower Scene from Psycho, heaps others). Local rock chick Sam Wareing took some time out from her Bar Open responsibilities to lay down a few vocalisations before vanishing to Berlin, while Gentleman of Fortune Graeme Cameron and Oneironaut’s Nick Pledge popped in and turned their amps up to 11. Jazz legend Adam Simmonds was forced at gunpoint to play saxophone solos for hours and Penny Ikinger made some earsplitting noises. Monique Brumby dropped around looking for her lost canary and found herself conscripted into singing, something she hadn’t done since the night before. Sunwrae’s Rae Howell gave a few blasts on her trumpet while Penrith hip-hop act The Kumpnee sold their washing machine and jumped on a plane to join in the fun. The sessions descended into chaos, forcing Benwah to seek refuge in academia.

At this stage Canadian producer and all-rounder Ganz Enfarben turned up and attempted to impose some order on proceedings. His first act was to play some La Monte Young-influenced keyboard drones. However immigration authorities weren’t convinced his business interests were genuine, so after a few sessions he was put on a plane back to where he came from, leaving nothing behind but a couple of broken-down synthesizers and a hard drive full of grooves.

Would Benwah ever descend from his ivory tower to rock once more? Could Devere escape from the health farm where his case manager had exiled him? Would Enfarben succeed in raising the cash to buy Abbey Road? Would Fakeman ever get back on stage to don his cloak and jumpsuit again? Whatever the answer, Tiatto were on the way to meet their destiny…

The collective was started in Sydney, Australia, in 1992 by a small group of people who were interested and active in electronic sound. Largely fuelled by the sore lack of live venues in Australia for electronic music and a lack of options for releasing recorded material, Clan Analogue was born out of necessity.

From a small group who were eager to swap tapes of each others’ compositions at meetings has spawned Australia’s longest running and innovative electronic arts and sound collective. It now has active members in Sydney and Melbourne, associated artists in Albury, Brisbane and Perth and is gaining a reputation for producing Australia¹s leading electronic music, both nationally and internationally.

Clan aims to allow artists to produce work free of the constraints of the commercial music industry by developing self funded, artist initiated recording and publishing projects. This ‘do it yourself’ philosophy encourages the direct transmission of the artist’s works to the listener without filtering it via label mediation.

Through its diverse and multi-talented membership, the collective allows for the pooling of resources and the cross-fertilisation of ideas. This co-operative nature of working together allows large, otherwise unattainable goals to be reached for the benefit of the larger collective.

Clan members traverse boundaries between sound, visual and written work as the collective explores both traditional and new media forms. Clan members maintain web sites throughout Australia that are regularly updated with graphics, audio and animations. Members produce regular radio programmes and live events that maintain a constant presence of original and innovative electronica in the public headspace.
