Sampled Synthesis: Melbourne underground electronic music 2000-2007

Clan Analogue are excited to make available for the first time on Bandcamp their series of six Sampled Synthesis sampler compilations, originally released between 2000 and 2007.

Between 2000 and 2007 Clan Analogue’s Melbourne branch released a series of CDR-only sampler compilations under the name of Sampled Synthesis, each one featuring a selection of underground artists from the Melbourne scene at that time. With burn runs of between 50 and 100, these rare CDRs were mostly sent to community radio announcers and street press music writers, along with a handful sold to Clan Analogue fans at gigs. Now this six-volume set is available via Clan Analogue’s Bandcamp page for download or streaming.

Sampled Synthesis 1 was compiled in 2000 as a fairly random selection of tracks by Clan Analogue’s Melbourne artists of the time. With Sampled Synthesis 2 focusing on ambient and atmospheric tracks, each subsequent release in the series was based around a general musical theme. Sampled Synthesis 3 collected downtempo groove-based material while Sampled Synthesis 4 explored experimental electronic tracks. Sampled Synthesis 5 brought back the beats while the final release in the series, Sampled Synthesis 6, returned to ambience and chill-out sounds.

With the Sampled Synthesis collection, enjoy early tracks by artists who went on to further releases with Clan Analogue, including KOshowKO, Winduptoys and Random Acts of Elevator Music. Also listen to rare tracks by artists who had already established themselves in Melbourne electronic music, including Clowns Smiling Backwards, Tetrphnm, Continuum and Pretty Boy Crossover. And you will also enjoy the sounds of artists who produced great work in a brief intersection with Clan Analogue before they moved on to other artistic or life pursuits, such as Bunsen Honeydew, Tolchok, Klej Butapren and Tahl.
